Diablo 4 Review Bombing Escalates; Players Have Had Enough

Diablo 4 has finally alienated a slew of players. All it took was one big update.

The latest Diablo is a great success. At least for Blizzard Entertainment, because gamers have criticized the game more than once. Apparently, the patience of fans has run out, because Diablo 4 has become another victim of review bombing.

Of course, the game is not present on Steam, like all Blizzard productions (at least for now). However, what is Metacritic for, if not for this kind of actions (at least that's what you can judge from the typical user reviews on this website).

At this point, the so-called metascore of Diablo 4 from user ratings ranges from 2.6 (on PlayStation 5) to around 4.5/10 (Xbox One / Xbox Series X/S). Complaints about D4 can be broadly divided into two categories.

  1. The first concerns issues that players have been pointing out for a long time: laborious character progression, among other things, as a result of low density of mobs in dungeons (especially after changes from June) and an endgame that leaves much to be desired.
  2. However - and this is probably the main reason for the action - the almost all negative reviews focus on the changes from the latest update and the game's first season. We wrote already about the opinions of players, according to whom patch 1.1 demolished all the previously developed character builds.
  3. A side effect of this is a further slowdown in the game's progression, and it is probably this issue that has became a step too far for Blizzard.

This is not the first review bombing of Diablo 4. Immediately after the game's release there were plenty of negative reviews. The main complaints were about server problems and microtransactions, although there were also some mentions about the progression system, items, etc.
