'We'll Never Make a Patch Like This Again'; Diablo 4 Devs Repent
After the last update to Diablo IV was massacred by the community, the developers at Blizzard Entertainment have decided to apologize. They announced patch 1.1.1, which is supposed to fix what version 1.1.0 broke.
As announced, Blizzard Entertainment has organized a special "campfire chat" session, during which the developers of Diablo IV discussed the first season of online gameplay and the unlucky update 1.1.0 released a few days ago. Apparently, the criticism that immediately afterwards fell on the developers, worked, because they admitted their mistakes.
"We realize that it is not the best experience for players. We will never do such a patch again. We hear you loud and clear," apologized the community director of Diablo, Adam Fletcher.
- To prove that they are not throwing words to the wind, the developers revealed that they have developed a system that should prevent the reappearance of an update that drastically reduces a character's power as patch 1.1.0 did.
"We can't weaken builds that are too strong without providing players with attractive alternatives, the game's director," Joe Shely, explained during the meeting.
- In addition, the developers announced that such patches will appear at fixed, specific times, such as the start of the next season. In addition, the studio is expected to respond quickly if any problems arise.
- The changes are also to include communication between Blizzard and players. The company promises to always provide information about updates via streams or blog posts at least a week before a patch is made available.
Will the above promises be covered in actions? Or are they just empty words meant to somewhat alleviate hostile sentiments in the community? We will find out in time.
Update 1.1.1 on the way
Nevertheless, it seems that the developers are already making some steps towards fixing their mistake.
- Blizzard anticipates that in the coming weeks Diablo IV will receive patch 1.1.1, which is expected to specifically improve the balance of the sorcerer and barbarian, the classes that were most affected by the previous update.
- It is also worth noting that the patch is expected to adjust experience gains between levels 50-100. This is due to complaints from players that at this stage they encountered a significant jump in the difficulty of leveling up.
- It will also put into the hands of players additional inventory space to store their equipment.
So we can't help but hope that this time the developers will actually fix something, instead of breaking more things.
Finally, let us remind you that the next episode of "campfire chat" stream will take place this Friday, July 28. You will be able to watch the event, traditionally, on Twitch and YouTube.
