Diablo 4 Fans Don't Like Endgame Grind; Diablo 3 was Better
It seems that Diablo 4 does not offer as many endgame attractions as its predecessor. Many players complain after completing the main campaign.
A month has passed since the release of Diablo 4, which means that more and more people can boast of completing the campaign and moving on to the endgame phase, which is, in the opinion of many, the main course after the story appetizer.
Hardly surprising, after all, it is in the endgame that the battle for the best loot, experience and effective "maxing out" of characters continues. This, however, involves grind, which is inherent in the structure of the gameplay. According to many players, this is precisely where Diablo 4 fails.
Diablo 3 was better
Recently a considerable popularity on Reddit gained a post by a player, who claims the endgame in Diablo 4 does not give as much satisfaction as in the previous part and, in short, is tedious. The user, known as asgasdgase, admits that perhaps the reason is that he has grown old since the release of the previous game, but perhaps the problem lies elsewhere?
"I simply derived great satisfaction from running around dungeons and searching for loot in D3, I'm not sure if it's D4's formula, or I'm just getting old, but I'm very bored with grinding my levels and clearing dungeons. The overall experience seems very monotonous after the first few hours, and at the thought of having to do it all over again in a new season - it's hard.
I didn't have this feeling in D3 - maybe I was addicted to grind, or maybe it's just the color palette and overall pace D4 make me so, almost sleepy playing this game. Anyone else in their 30s have this feeling?"
It turns out that the author of the post is not alone in his impressions, but players blame not the passage of time, but the poorly designed endgame. One commenter wrote:
"It's not your fault, it's the dungeons and Nightmare Dungeons. Worse, they doubled the dullest thing in the game, the NM dungeons, which are supposed to be the core of the game (even doubling the population of mobs did nothing). The PVP zone has almost enough staff to feel good. It's a shame to even talk about how lonely D4 feels, despite the sight of other players nearby," writes user Ambitious-Door-7847.
Differences in endgame
The same player gave several examples of how the endgame in Diablo 3, despite its flaws, was simply better:
- most dungeons contained enough enemies to "satisfy the need to mow down mobs."
- their layouts were more varied,
- Diablo 3's rifts has simply "more things to do",
- the bosses were more interesting, and the enemies themselves were more varied.
Quite a few other Reddit users agree with this statement - the post has already gathered more than 10,000 positive reactions, and even those players who enjoy endgame in Diablo 4 agree with the statement that Diablo 3 was more diverse in this aspect.
It remains to wait to see what variety Blizzard will introduce in future seasons. After all Diablo 4 is supposed to be a long-lived game and maybe it will still convince the bored players.
