Skill Tree in Diablo 4 Revealed

Blizzard Entertainment has shown what the skill tree in Diablo IV will look like. It has changed significantly since the last presentation.

IGN has published another video dedicated to Diablo IV. In the new material creators of the new Diablo have discussed the skill tree - or its latest version.

Since the announcement of the fourth installment, Blizzard Entertainment has prepared four variants of this system, starting with the presentation from 2019, and ending on the literal tree from 2020. The latest iteration looks a bit more standard.

The changes are due in part to fan feedback, which the developers collected after publishing more information about the game. The developers are trying to work out the golden mean to create a system, on the one hand, full of depth and giving plenty of opportunities, on the other - accessible to new players and not requiring the search for help on the Internet to build a unique character.

In the end, the bet was on a solution that may bring Diablo II to mind, with - as Rod Fergusson, the series' general manager, put it - "inheritance" of skills and synergy of various nodes. At the same time, the whole thing is supposed to be less linear than in the original. You won't need to "buy" a specific node to unlock the next "cluster" - just invest in the right number of them.

Character progression may also be helped by keyword search engine in the skill tree. Thanks to it, the game will highlight, for example, all the nodes associated with the condition of bleeding, which will make it easier to plan investments in given clusters of skills.

If we nevertheless find that the current combination does not meet our expectations, Diablo 4 will once again feature the skill reset option. This will take into account both getting rid of individual nodes and all skills at once.

Of course, it will not be free - we will have to spend gold each time. However, at low character level the price will not be high, which is supposed to encourage experimentation. Only after many advancement will the cost increase enough to make constant resets unprofitable.

This is a deliberate move, as Blizzard wants players to get attached to high-level characters. So if they want to experiment further with a particular character class, the best solution is supposed to be the creation of a new hero.

Diablo IV is to be released in 2023 - according to latest rumors at the end of April. The game will be available on PC, PlayStation,4 Xbox One, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
