IN A NUTSHELL:
  • Diablo 2: Resurrected is the best-selling remaster in Blizzard's history;
  • The company also shared further plans for the development of the Warcraft brand;
  • In the future we will probably see a new mobile game set in this universe.

Diablo 2: Resurrected could not complain about the lack of problems after launch. Players who bought the game struggled with bugs and overloaded servers. Moreover, the game lacked some features, which turned out to be very important for the fans.

Nevertheless, the debut of the refreshed version of the iconic hack'n'slash turned out to be a success for Blizzard Entertainment. Diablo 2: Resurrected is the best-selling remaster in the studio's history.

The game beat the controversial Warcraft III: Reforged and StarCraft: Remastered. Moreover, it did so in just four months after release.

Diablo 2: Resurrected contributed to Activision Blizzard results

Thus, the game contributed to the very good financial results of Activision Blizzard. The company earned $8.8 billion in revenue last year.

Admittedly, the last quarter did not meet publisher expectations, but this was primarily due to lower sales of Call of Duty: Vanguard, rather than the problems of the remastered Diablo 2.

Warcraft brand development

In addition, Blizzard has shared plans for further development of the Warcraft brand.

  1. In 2022, players can expect the release of new content for World of Warcraft and Hearthstone.
  2. Fans of the universe will receive a completely new project designed for mobile platforms.
  3. No details have been revealed as of yet, but most likely Blizzard is going to release a mobile game related to the Warcraft universe.
