Diablo 2 Resurrected - Alpha Test Schedule and DualSense Support
In recent press interviews, developers from Blizzard Entertainment presented a number of new details about the upcoming remake of the iconic hack'n'slash Diablo 2 - Diablo 2: Resurrected. We know that the game will support Dual Sense's vibration features. We also learned some details about alpha tests.
IN A NUTSHELL:
- Blizzard Entertainment intends to conduct two phases of alpha test of Diablo 2: Resurrected;
- The game will also support the advanced DualSense controller vibration system.
Blizzard Entertainment announced that Diablo II: Resurrected, a remake of the iconic hack'n'slash from the turn of the 20th century, will undergo two phases of tech alpha testing (via PCGamesN). The first will be conducted with a view to testing the single player campaign, while the aim of the second will be to test the multiplayer mode and network infrastructure. For now, it is unknown when exactly they will take place.
“We’re going to start with a single-player technical alpha, and then we’ll have a second technical alpha after that, which is kind of multiplayer and stress testing,” said lead producer Chris Lena.
We also learned that the game will support the unique features of the DualSense controller, with a special focus on the new vibration system.
“We’re still working on how we want to use [the DualSense - ed.n.], but the haptic feedback on the controller is a really exciting thing, and so we want to make sure that we take advantage of that," said developer Robert Gallerani.
It's worth noting that the game's interface, unlike the original, will be console-friendly (the developers gained a lot of experience in this regard working on Diablo III ports for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch). A good example of the difference between the old and the new version is the teleportation spell used by the Sorceress.
“In the original game, the Sorceress’ teleport works by clicking wherever you want. Wherever you click, that’s where you’re teleporting to. When you’re using the controller, you don’t have a cursor, so when you teleport with the Sorceress we have a default distance for the teleport. Some of the moves we do that, for example a Blood Golem from a Necromancer will always spawn where you want it to. Whereas some moves we actually allow you to hold a button down, and you then get a cursor,” - described the mentioned Blizzard Entertainment employee.
Diablo 2: Resurrected will be released in 2021. The game is coming to PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S and Nintendo Switch.
