Demo of Metal Gear's Free Parody Looks Intriguing
UnMetal, a two-dimensional stealth game and a parody of the Metal Gear series, developed by the creator of Unepic and his collaborators, is in the works. The game's demo is now available to download for free. Full version will debut on Steam on October 2.
The Metal Gear series, fathered by the legendary dev Hideo Kojima, is one of the symbols of digital entertainment industry. As befits such popular titles, the series has received numerous tributes and parodies. The latest production belonging to the latter group is prepared by a team led by Francisco Téllez de Meneses (the founder of the once popular Unepic). The game is called UnMetal and will be a two-dimensional action game with significant stealth elements. Below we can watch its trailer.
The action of UnMetal will start in 1972. During the game, we'll have the opportunity to impersonate Jesse Fox, a highly trained soldier, who is being arrested by a commando unit for a crime he didn't commit, and placed in a heavily guarded facility. Our task is very simple - escape, do not get killed and do not forget to stop an attack on NATO.
Watching the trailer and looking at the screenshots available on Steam, among other places, Metal Gear fans should feel at home. This is because the whole series looks very similar to the first two installments of the series about the adventures of Solid Snake and Big Boss - Metal Gear from 1987 and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake from 1990. We can therefore expect that Menesem's game will feature numerous opponents to get past or stun, lots of weapons, gadgets and items to acquire, which will help us make our way through the enemy base, colorful characters and spectacular boss fights. All this is served with a solid dose of humor.
If you're still not quite sure if it's worth taking an interest in UnMetal, you can check out the title yourself through the trial version. It contains the first level, out of ten that will appear in the full game. You can download the demo from this page or from Steam.
UnMetal will debut on October 2 this year exclusively on Steam. The title is also scheduled to appear on GOG.com later on. There are also plans to release the title on PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
