Norman Reedus Spills More Beans About Death Stranding 2
Norman Reedus revealed that work on Death Stranding 2 has already begun. He also mentioned what prompted him to work with Hideo Kojima.
Last August Norman Reedus, who plays the main protagonist of Death Stranding revealed that negotiations on the continuation of the game are underway. In a recent interview with Leo Edit the actor admitted that work on sequel has already begun:
Interviewer: Okay, so you got the book going on, you’ve got the final season coming out [of The Walking Dead - ed. note], then the spinoff, and you’re filming Death Stranding, the video game.
Norman Reedus: We just started the second one. (...). It took me maybe two or three years to finish all the MoCap sessions and everything. It takes a lot of work. And then the game [first Death Stranding - ed. note] came out, and it just won all these awards, and it was a huge thing, so we just started part two of that."
From Silent Hills...
Reedus mentions that was persuaded to work with Hideo Kojima, the director of Death Stranding, by Guillermo del Toro (Pan's Labyrinth, Nightmare Alley), with whom he worked on the film Mutant from 1997:
Del Toro (...) “Hey, there’s a guy named Hideo Kojima, he’s gonna call you, just say yes.” And I go, “What do you mean just say yes?” He goes, “Stop being an asshole, just say yes".
...after Death Stranding
Some time later, Kojima showed Reedus a draft of Silent Hills, which he was working on at the time, and wanted the actor to play the main character.
I was blown away by what he was showing me, and I was like, “Yes, let’s do this.” It’s not Ms. Pac-Man; it’s so realistic, it’s so futuristic, it’s so complicated and beautiful, and I was completely blown away."
- Eventually Silent Hills got canceled, Kojima parted ways with Konami and started working on Death Stranding.
- Although rumors of a sequel to Kojima's latest work have been circulating online for some time, the title has yet to be officially revealed..
- In conclusion, it is worth mentioning that in September last year an enhanced version of the game for the PS5 console was released, subtitled Director's Cut. Recently, it has been made available also on PC.
