Dead Island Retro Revenge gets a gameplay trailer

Dead Island Retro Revenge will be a spin-off to the Dead Island series, coming along with Dead Island: Definitive Collection. This old-school, 16-bit, side-scrolling brawler just got a gameplay trailer.

The Dead Island series is going to get a retro-style spin-off. Dead Island Retro Revenge is a recently announced side-scrolling beat ‘em up with 16-bit graphics, in which you play as Max, a tough guy hell-bent on saving his cat. As he pushes forward across the zombie-infested California, the hero tears up hordes of the undead, corrupt soldiers, and ex-convicts. Over-the-top gameplay is going to feature juicy combos, crazy power-ups, wild super weapons, and epic boss fights (when was the last time you fought a dragon?).

Dead Island Retro Revenge will be bundled with Dead Island: Definitive Collection (remastered editions of Dead Island and Dead Island: Riptide included), coming to PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 on May 31, 2016. Alternatively, you can pick it up separately on Steam for $4.99.

Sooo old-school…

Unlike the core games, developed by Polish studio Techland, Dead Island Retro Revenge is the work of Empty Clip Studios, creators of music game Symphony and Groovin’ Blocks for Nintendo Wii and iOS. The game will be published as per usual by Deep Silver.
