Dead Island 2 - Early Version of the Game Leaked
An early version of Dead Island 2 was leaked. Thanks to this, we can watch gameplay and screenshots showing how the project looked like in 2015.
Early version of Dead Island 2, a sequel of the popular open-world action game leaked to the web. The Internet has seen en explosion of screenshots and gameplays.
The leak is supposed to concern the game version from 2015, back when Yager Development, known from Spec Ops: The Line, was working on Dead Island 2. The project was at an early stage of development at that time, so many of the elements in the material below are templates, and the whole thing is very undpolished. Still, the gameplay gives a good idea about what the title was supposed to offer.
All material from this version should be treated as a curiosity. We know that Dead Island 2 is still in development, but the game is probably very different from the 2015 version at this stage. It is even possible that the completed elements were abandoned and the work started from the beginning.
Yager Developments was taken off the project in July 2015. The following year we found out that the project was taken over by Sumo Digital. After that Dead Island 2 went off the radar. The only activity was Deep Silver, the game's publisher, occasionally assuring that it did not abandon the title.
Last year, it was announced that the project changed developers again. Currently it is Deep Silver Dambuster Studios, a team known from Homefront: The Revolution, which was built on the ruins of Crytek UK. Recent reports suggest that Dead Island 2 is also being developed for next-gen consoles.
So many years have passed since the project was announced, and developers have changed so often that what is currently being developed at Deep Silver Dambuster Studios is probably very different from the version that has just been leaked.
