The relationships between our friends in the camp may have been even more intricate than in the game's final version.

Baldur’s Gate 3 as a game is constantly expanding. Larian Studios regularly releases updates adding new dialogues or elements to their groundbreaking game, which were hard to find without using exploits or mods. As a result, the story becomes even richer in the context of the protagonist's relationship with the companions he or she met.

The same companions sometimes have friction between them, usually limiting themselves to brief comments before engaging in dialogue with the player. However, a certain data miner managed to dig up the developers' unused plans.

Consequences of operating on two fronts

In one of the previous major patches, Larian Studios allowed players to recruit Minthara (a paladin who believed in the Cult of the Absolute to a certain point in the story) without the need to sacrifice refugees from the Emerald Grove. This way, we can admit both the drow and the druid Halsin to the camp.

According to information obtained by the data miner known as Merrin La, Minthara and Halsin had no chance of becoming allies in battle. Unused in Baldur the dialogues perfectly illustrate the conflict that was to occur if the drow was invited to join the party.

As the continuation shared on the Tumblr platform explains, Halsin isn't particularly eager to cooperate with the former cultist, even if they now have a common enemy. This will force the player to make a choice, resulting in the departure of one of the companions with opposing views.

Future plans of Larian Studios?

If you look at the above conversation from the perspective of a game, it could indeed make sense. Currently, Minthara and Halsin "share" one tent, thus implying that only one of them had the right to be in the camp. The game itself however, doesn't have such a confrontation in the current version of the game.

Commenters on the Reddit post believe that Larian may decide to introduce dialogue in the upcoming seventh update. Especially since the dialogues have already been recorded by the actors. Some are still proposing the option of convincing Halsin to remain in the camp through persuasion, similar to the conflict between Karlach and Wyll or Lae'zel and Shadowheart.
