A new game from Event Horizon has debuted on GOG and Steam. The creators of the warmly received Tower of Tine come to us with a new steampunk RPG. There's no shortage of magic, either.

RPG enthusiasts can now buy the latest game from studio Event Horizon on Steam and GOG. On both platforms, the game has been discounted by 10% to celebrate its release. Is it worth playing it?

Dark Envoy is a solid steampunk RPG

Dark Envoy takes players to a world where magic and technology rule, and an empire of humans pushes representatives of the Old Races to the margins of society. The plot is said to be non-linear, and the choices made during gameplay are said to influence the course of the game. Combat takes place in real time with active pause, and the outcome is said to depend on our tactical sense and judicious investment in character skills. The game also offers a two-player co-op mode.

First reviews on Steam suggest that we are dealing with a solid title and they are mostly positive. The developers' previous game, the aforementioned Tower of Tine, ultimately ended up with very positive ratings, so one can probably conclude that fans of the genre have something to look for here. In other words - everything bodes well.

Especially since the premiere reviews praise what was a strong point in the previous game, namely the combat system and other gameplay mechanics. Critics, however, complain about the poor presentation of all these attractions - poor storyline, unmemorable characters, etc. Currently on OpenCritic there are four texts - three with a rating of 6/10 and one with a score of 7.3/10.

On X/Twitter the developers have posted an infographic that tells a lot about the work they've put into the game and what we can more or less expect from it. It's worth a look and adds that Dark Envoy is also coming to Sony and Microsoft consoles in 2024.
