Cyberpunk 2077's Reddit Flooded With 18+ Content as Protest [Update]
The recent, rather controversial actions of Reddit's authorities have resulted in a backlash from users. The result is a flood of adult content on Cyberpunk 2077's subreddit.
Update
The r/cyberpunkgame subreddit team received a warning from the platform's administration, not to publish the adult content described in this message. Acting against the guidelines could lead to the closure of r/cyberpunkgame . As a result, moderators have asked users to refrain from posting posts and materials that blatantly violate Reddit's rules, referring them to subreddits dedicated to such topics.

Reddit can be loved or hated, but it does not change the fact that this service is a very unique place on the web. Almost anyone can find something for themselves there. Whether you're a fan of games, spy books or tailoring, you'll almost certainly find a thread on Reddit that will answer even your most burning questions. And if not, at least it will connect you with other people with the same passions.
A breeding ground for conflict
Unfortunately, recently things are not going well in the mentioned service - to put it mildly. All due to the decisions of the platform's authorities, which will entail an increase in fees for the use of Reddit's API. They are to be charged to third-party applications. In a sense, this is the nail in the coffin for developers of software that allows access to Reddit on mobile devices.
According to estimates by the authors of Apollo - a third-party Reddit client released for iOS and iPadOS - the cost of the API for 50 million queries to the database is expected to be $12,000. To show what specific amounts this will translate into, Apollo users generated 7 billion queries in May, giving us a figure of $1.7 million (over $7 million). As pointed out by the program's creator, this is a prohibitive rate at which maintaining access to Reddit becomes unrealistic.
A tool of rebellion - Cyberpunk 2077
In connection with the company's greedy policy, Reddit users decided to start a revolt, which is gradually spilling over to the entire platform. Interestingly, the protest did not even bypass the subreddit of Cyberpunk 2077. In recent hours, huge amounts of 18+ content began to appear there. Why such content? Because these materials are labeled as NSFW (Not Safe For Work), i.e. content that is inappropriate for workplace viewing. This, in turn, means that Reddit can't display ads next to posts appearing on the subreddit, and thus the portal's owners gain less profit.
What specific content is flooding the subreddit of Cyberpunk 2077? Of course, related to the game itself. The graphics shared by users most often depict characters from the game dressed as Adam and Eve. We therefore do not recommend that minors visit the site - at least until this peculiar protest is over.
At the time of writing this post, we have not noticed such posts on subreddits dedicated to other games. Nevertheless, their appearance may be a matter of time.
