Cyberpunk 2077 will release in 2016 - says Gamereactor.de. But we don’t believe it
A report from a German edition of Gamereactor says that CD Projekt RED is going to release Cyberpunk 2077 much sooner than expected – in late 2016. It’d be great news… if only it was probable.
An interesting article was published recently at the German edition of Gamereactor. It says, according to some anonymous sources close to CD Projekt RED, that creators of The Witcher 3 are going to release their next creation – Cyberpunk 2077 – by the end of 2016. It would be a fantastic news… but unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to be possible.
CD Projekt RED started to move their “resources” to develop Cyberpunk 2077 just half a year ago or so, after Wild Hunt was released. Undoubtedly, the team has grown significantly in the past few years, but certainly it still isn’t big enough to create another epic RPG game in one year and a half. Even The Witcher 3 was planned to be released more than three years after the previous game – and it ended with a four-year gap due to delays (caused by the need to create the best game possible). Also, promises that Cyberpunk will be much bigger and more ambitious than Wild Hunt don’t make believing in Gamereactor’s report any easier. Besides – would CD Projekt RED push hard to “assault” the market at the same time when the competition is going to release as strong titles as Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and Mass Effect: Andromeda?
However, we can’t say that Gamereactor’s report is totally improbable for sure. What if The Witcher’s creator are going to repeat what Bethesda did this year with Fallout 4 and they will show up at E3 2016 with gameplay, tons of information and a release date? It would be great… but it’s probably nothing more than a dream.
Of course, we asked CD Projekt RED to comment on that report. “Our rule is not to comment rumours. Cyberpunk 2077 will be released when it’s done”, told us Radoslaw Grabowski, PR Manager at the studio. All we can do is to wait patiently then…
