Cyberpunk 2077 Will Provide Deeper RPG Experience Than The Witcher 3, Dev Claims
According to a developer from CD Projekt RED, Cyberpunk 2077 will provide a much deeper RPG experience than The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Is there a real feast in the making for fans of the genre?
In recent days, new materials from Cyberpunk 2077 have been released, presenting not only the life paths, but also available types of weapons. After the second episode of Night City Wire, new interviews with the creators began to appear. Yesterday, we found out thanks to them that hand-to-hand combat is still being worked out, and today, thanks to senior level designer Miles Tost, the upcoming game from CD Projekt RED will offer a much deeper RPG experience than The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
"I don't know, there's a lot, there's a ton of weapons. How I would summarize this is... I think people tend to forget that Cyberpunk 2077 is an RPG first and foremost. Right? So customization and equipment choices, making choices in the skills you have, the talents, how your character looks, how you choose dialogue, it's the center stage of this experience. I think some people look at this game and think "Oh man, it's first-person and has guns! It's a shooter!" and that's a very surface-level assessment *chuckles* I think in many ways, it's a much, much deeper roleplaying experience than The Witcher 3."
Other curiosities worth mentioning is that the studio is trying to additionally explain why the doors to certain buildings are closed, so that we won't be able to enter, by e.g. placing a bodyguard in front of the entrance. This will not be possible in every case, however, but only where it makes sense. In The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt there was about 2500 doors, while in Cyberpunk 2077 there are many more, so it's hard to expect each and every closed entrance in Night City being treated in such a unique way.
Cyberpunk 2077 will be released on November 19, 2020 on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Editions for PS5 and Xbox Series X are also planned.
