Cyberpunk 2077 sequel without Samurai? Game's developer spoke out on Project Orion
CD Projekt RED has no plans for new Samurai band tracks in the upcoming sequel to Cyberpunk 2077. However, the situation may change.
Cyberpunk 2077 features many hit songs, but some of the most memorable are those performed by the fictional band Samurai (in reality, they were composed by the Refused band), led by the charismatic rockerboy Johnny Silverhand. If you're counting on more of their songs in the upcoming sequel, then unfortunately I have some sad news for you - they're not planned at the moment.
The information was conveyed by P.T. Adamczyk, a composer from CD Projekt RED who worked on the music in Cyberpunk 2077. He recently organized an AMA session (Ask Me Anything) on Reddit, where he was asked about creating a new Samurai album as part of Project Orion.
I dunno. As of now we don’t have any plans for next samurai tracks, but who knows. Maybe in the future we will commission more. Hard to tell.
As you can read, Adamczyk didn't rule out the option of writing new pieces; however, he emphasized that they are currently not in the plans. It's worth remembering that the release of the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel is very far away, so a lot can still change in this matter.
It should be noted that the potential lack of a new Samurai album wouldn't be that surprising, as it was strongly associated with Johnny Silverhand, who played a key role in the game. If CD Projekt RED chooses to include new characters in the sequel, a soundtrack tailored to their history and character will likely be created. It is possible that another band will appear, gaining equally great favor from the players.
