Looking to heat up the atmosphere a bit ahead of today's gamescom 2023 Opening Night Live Nvidia announced DLSS 3.5. In this version, the focus is on making the artificial intelligence render the smoothest possible rays in ray tracing mode.

This will be possible thanks to the Ray Reconstruction function, which is based on five times more data than DLSS 3. This is expected to allow for games to display maximum natural lighting effects while maintaining the original color scheme and provide better reflections.

In turn, it is particularly important that the Ray Reconstruction function will be used on all Nvidia GPUs that have RTX in their name. This is important because, for example, DLSS 3 Frame Generation is supported only by chips from the latter series, based on the Ada Lovelace architecture.

The first games that will benefit from Nvidia DLSS 3.5 are Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, Alan Wake 2 and RTX Portal. Below you can see how the technology looks in the upcoming expansion for Cyberpunk 2077. Jakub Knapik, visual effects and lighting director from CD Projekt RED, commented on it in the following words:

"With the intelligent DLSS 3.5 technology, driven by the power of AI rendering, you can experience Dogtown, the newest location from Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, at its best - with sharper images, more precise lighting and the highest possible frame rate."

DLSS 3.5 technology will be available in the fall of 2023. You can learn more about it in this video.
