CSGO Update Introduces Fix in Need of Clarification
Valve has fixed a bug that had been present in CSGO since April. It concerned weapons and the names given to them, which stopped displaying in the game.
Yesterday's update for Counter Strike Global Offensive raised some doubts among the fans, as it fixed a bug that many had missed. Namely, it concerns the displaying of weapon names on the kill screen.
Strange murder tools are back in town
In the patch's description on the official CSGO blog we find the following change: "Fixed a regression in the kill panel to show the killer's weapon." While at first glance it's unclear what Valve has actually changed, it's about the weapon nameplates.
From now on, after death we will again be able to see that we were killed by, for example, Galil Sandstorm with the name tag "Darude", or AK-47 Fire Serpent named "mom's credit card" in honor of the founder. Of course, there is no end to the creativity of gamers, and the names end where the limitations of Steam (which is not always equal to the limitations of good taste) enter.
And bam, tags were gone for three months
It's not a matter of them being removed from the game entirely, that's not what happened. Nevertheless, weapon names have disappeared from the panel that displays after being killed. This happened after the April update and the change was most likely not intentional (it was not mentioned in the patch notes).
Interestingly, many players didn't even notice that for a while name tags didn't display, and they only heard about the bug when it was fixed.
What else is new?
A bug regarding map voting during Competitive and LAN games was also fixed, and the R8 Revolver | Crazy 8 low violence CSGO was updated. In addition, the Ember and Hive maps also received changes, which you can read about in detail here.
