CS:GO Patch Fixes Ping and Foosteps Bugs
Valve released a new patch for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. The update fixes two major bugs related to ping and footstep sounds.
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive received a new update. The patch brought with it fixes for the Anubis, Apollo, and Frostbite maps, both visual and more practical (for example, removing places where other players stack on each other). They also fixed the visual voting for the next map after a round.
However, the two most important changes are unrelated to any of the aforementioned maps. For a long time, the CSGO community has been annoyed by a bug with a marker (ping) that reacted when another player passed through it. In practice, this enabled you to spot hidden enemies, which would be a huge advantage in any shooter, let alone one where one hit often means death. The second bug (discussed, for example, in this thread on Reddit) concerned the sound of footsteps. These did not always correspond to the surface on which the player was walking, which could mislead other players. This issue has also been fixed by the new update.
Devs at Valve were in no hurry to fix these bugs, which the fans are rather used to. Some wonder whether the removal of the two discussed bugs is not a result of recent posts about them on Reddit, which attracted the attention of many players. Either way, the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive community can celebrate the removal of two fairly serious bugs from the game.
