Crying Furina in Genshin Impact; Mystery of Lucine Fountain Explained
The start of the Fontaine storyline in Genshin Impact left many questions unanswered. The voice of Furina, the Hydro Archon crying at the Fountain of Lucine might be an important clue.
A chilling easter egg has been discovered in Fontaine, the new nation added to Genshin Impact in the 4.0 update. Players who go to the Fountain of Lucine may hear the voice of Furina, the Hydro Archon, crying in what appears to be great suffering. Let’s take a closer look at this mystery.
Furina crying in Fountain of Lucine Easter Egg
Caution – the article below will contain spoilers for the first two Acts of the Fontaine Archon Quest.
To experience this hidden detail, head to the Fountain of Lucine in Fontaine after completing the available Archon Quest.
Stand in the water; you can also go inside the structure. You don’t’ have to adjust the time of day.
Go to your Settings and mute Music and SFX under Audio. Leave Dialogue on. For the best experience, use headphones.
Then, wait for a while. You may hear some NPCs chatting or making wishes to the Fountain nearby, but eventually, you will hear Furina’s voice. You can’t mistake her for one of the NPC because unlike the people gathered around, who have a cheerful or hopeful tone, she will sound very sad.
Why is Furina crying?
The first question is why can Furina’s voice be heard inside the Fountain of Lucine, when the Archon is nowhere to be seen? The answer might have already been given during The City of Rains and Remembrance quest, which is a part of the main questline.
Like I just mentioned, the Fountain of Lucine is where all the flowing water in Fontaine converges. Even the tears that fall to the ground will eventually gather here.
Lynette
According to Lynette’s words, we may guess that the Fountain of Lucine echoes Furina’s cries because the Archon’s tears have fallen to the ground somewhere in Fontaine. Meanwhile, the reason why Furina was sobbing might be connected to the Prophecy mentioned first by Lyney, also in the main quest.
However, the Prophecy has not yet been completed. That means something else is probably going on in behind the scenes that the players do not know yet. The mystery is likely connected to Celestia, the residence of gods, which is currently hovering right above Fontaine. Because of this, players are speculating that Celestia is keeping a close eye on the country, and might be preparing to punish or even destroy it for some transgression, as with the nation of Khaenri’ah. It is possible that Celestia is threatening or controlling Furina in some way.
Furina’s cries have been dubbed for each of the voiced language versions, and the translations feature subtle differences. Nevertheless, in each language the Hydro Archon sounds pained and exhausted, even scared. We can be sure that the upcoming Acts of the Fontaine Archon Quest in Genshin Impact will reveal more than one dark secret.
