Controller Support in Sunkenland Explained
Controller support in Sunkenland is an interesting case. There was a tag on Steam page, indicating partial controller support. However, it disappeared after the release. It was a source of a great confusion among the fans.
We have decided to test the gameplay using controller. For the purpose of our research, we have used Xbox controller. Below you will find our conclusions:
- Make sure that you allow Steam input for Sunkenland, In your library right-click the game. Pick Properties and go to the Controller section. Enable Steam input there. Without it, controller will be unresponsive at some crucial places. At the same time, there is a Controller configuration option in this menu. You may edit default bindings.
- Most of the game can be played with controller only. Basic controls are adjusted. There are some flaws, though. You will have to use a keyboard to name your character. The same thing is in the case of some worktables. For example, we couldn’t find a button on controller to add wood to the Grill.
- Controller is implemented not ideally. Most menus simply use a right joystick as a mouse cursor. It makes the game playable but far from efficient.
On Discord, developers in their FAQ inform that they will consider the full support in the future. However, for now, you will need to use keyboard at some points to play. If you don’t like this idea, you have to wait.
