- Remedy, in cooperation with 505 Games, is working on two new games from the Control universe;
- One of them will be a spin-off in a form of co-op shooter;
- The second is a sequel of Control with a bigger budget than the first part;
- Both projects are in early stages of development, so we won't see them in action soon.
Remedy announced the signing of a deal with 505 Games. Within its framework, the team will develop two new game set in the Control universe. One of them will be multiplayer spin-off, currently known as Condor, and the second - a high-budget sequal of the first game.
More is known about the former of the two - the concept art presented above comes what this project. It's supposed to be a cooperative shooter, in which four players will join forces in the fight against opponents controlled by AI. Condor is an unusual project for Remedy. Until now, the studio was known from single player games. At the same time, the team specializes in excellent combat mechanics, and the experience of creating a solo title is easier to transfer to a PvE title than to one based on PvP.
Control's director Mikael Kasurinen admits that fans may be sceptical about Remedy's multiplayer project. He assures, however, that co-op games can be as good as single-player titles, also in terms of story. The task will not be easy, as the devs want to keep the elements typical for the studio's productions, which will require them to introduce a lot of innovations, but the developers are excited about this challenge.
Less is known about the second game. Kasurinen only stated, that under the agreement it will be possible to develop another Control with a higher budget than the first part.
Kasurinen praises the cooperation with 505 Games, and the new contract with the publisher will ensure a bright future for the franchise. The developer warned, however, that we will not see these two games in action soon. He added, however, that Remedy's other productions will hit the market sooner, so the studio's fans will have something to play in the meantime.
