Contraband From Just Cause 4 Devs May Focus on Vehicle Clashes
According to the editor of Windows Central, the new game from Avalanche - Contraband - will be based on vehicle battles. The editor suggests the developers plan to reduce violence.
- Jez Corden from Windows Central reports that co-op game Contraband will let us plan and execute smuggling runs and heists;
- Gameplay will focus on car battles while avoiding killing enemies.
Windows Central editor Jez Corden shed some light on Contraband developed by Swedish studio Avalanche. During the World of Gaming stream broadcast on February 17 the journalist revealed that he received a description of the project, according to which it will focus on vehicle battles. According to previous reports, the title will offer the opportunity to plan smuggling and robberies and then carry them out. An important aspect of the game will be avoiding excessive violence.
"Weapon effects revolve around taking enemy vehicles out of action by puncturing tires and the like instead of mass killing and bloodshed [...]."
According to Corden, devs at Avalanche have focused on action, in which an important role will be played by the tactical approach to each task. In Contraband killing is supposed to be the last, crisis choice after all other options have been exhausted. The editor of Windows Central was not sure, however, if the game will see the light of day in 2022.
The developers of Just Cause 4 are applying their experience to an ambitious new project
Jez Corden's words are the first more detailed (though still unconfirmed) news about Contraband. The game was announced last year as a co-op "smuggler's paradise" with an open world, and its director Omar Shakir described it as the most ambitious project in the studio's history.. According to official information, the game will be released exclusively on PC and Xbox Series S/X consoles, and it will also be available as part of the Game Pass service, which is the result of cooperation with Xbox Game Studios.
It's worth mentioning that Avalanche Studios can boast a lot of experience in creating open-world games in which vehicles play an important role. The company is responsible for such games as Mad Max, RAGE 2 and the Just Cause series..
