Content Warning may have been an April Fool's joke, but the promotion to pick up the game for free is real.

Although the title of the game may suggest that this is just an April Fool's joke, Content Warning has gained surprisingly a lot of popularity (via SteamDB). Certainly, this is in part the result of the free release of this title at the premiere, but the "overwhelmingly positive" reviews on Steam seem to indicate that this isn't the sole reason.
The basic gameplay concepts are very similar to those of Lethal Company. 2-4 players explore perilous locations filled with diverse and highly palpable terrors (and brought to life by a playful physics system). We visit these locations for 3 days of game time.
However, at Content Warning we don't work for a cutthroat company - at least not literally. Instead, players are tasked with creating sensitive content, meaning recording scary phenomena and then uploading them to the fictional website SpookTube.
The goal is simple: conquer the Internet with your content and gain fame and money from advertisements. We use the raised funds to improve our equipment, enabling us to record even more terrifying content.
From this description, you can guess that Content Warning focuses more on humor than Lethal Company. One of the features of the game released by Landfall Publishing is the customization of character "faces" in the ASCII system. So, in short, using emoticons.
