Conan Exiles Attracted Players with Update and Steam Discount
Conan Exiles has received the Age of Sorcery update. And while its launch isn't among the best, it still attracted quite a few players (when combined with a free week on Steam).
The free week in Conan Exiles on Steam has attracted quite a few players. In the last few days, the number of people playing the survival game reached tens of thousands per day. An update also came to the game, but it turned out to be controversial for some players.
Conan Exiles for free
With the arrival of the Age of Sorcery update a free week on Steam has begun, which runs from September 1 to 8. As a result, in recent days Conan Exiles has been played by up to 40,000 people at a time, and there are currently more than 18,000 of them in the game.
It is worth noting here that on the day of release Conan Exiles was played by more than 53 thousand players, which makes yesterday's result seem quite decent.
This is not the first time that Conan Exiles is available for free, although now the survival game seems to be attracting more people. Counting all seven free weekends, the game only once broke the number of 30,000 concurrent players (in September 2020).
If these days Conan Exiles appeals to you enough to decide to buy it, then until September 11 you can get the game 70% off. The Isle of Siptah Edition and Complete Edition bundles have also been discounted.
Mediocre update
Age of Sorcery is the biggest update to the game since its release. As the name already suggests, it introduces black magic into the game for players to use. However, this is not the only novelty that came to the game. A list of changes can be found below.
- Stats and perks have been reworked, which will help you better specialize your character.
- Changes have been made to the build interface, which are helpful especially when playing on a gamepad.
- Creative mode has been launched.
- The companion system has received several improvements.
- Battle pass and Bazaar have appeared.
Although one gets the impression that players are mostly happy with the changes and have been anticipating Age of Sorcery, there is no denying that some of them are disappointed with the introduction of the Pass. The situation is not improved by the fact that Conan Exiles is a paid game.
"Oh dear. People predicted that Combat Pass would be a shameless cash grab and so it is, how surprising," wrote Count von Count.
Moreover, the update was not without a ton of bugs and technical problems. For example, players had to uninstall all mods to make the game work at all after the update. Technical problems also affected the console version of the game.
So it's hard to say whether the update significantly improved the quality of gameplay - heck, threads on Conan Exiles forums suggests the opposite. Nevertheless, the developers are working to fix the bugs that appear in the game as soon as possible.
