Judging by the first reviews, Company of Heroes 3 should not disappoint the hopes of veterans of the series and RTS games in general. According to journalists, fans will find all the familiar and well-loved elements from the two previous installments, but mostly expanded and modernized.
It is unlikely for anybody to complain about the available range of tactical options. The diversity of factions, troops and their equipment prevents CoH 3 from getting boring even after many hours of play. Two campaigns also do their job, admittedly - according to some reviewers - not offering much in the way of plot, but full of really diverse missions. As a result, players can spend dozens of hours experimenting with different tactics.
However, there are reasons why few gave the game perfect marks. First Company of Heroes delighted with graphics, but visuals of the third one - although not ugly - will not sweep anyone off their feet.
CoH 3 also took over the inheritance of the previous installment in the form of units having occasional problems with pathfinding. In addition, some other shortcomings remained, although not so many as to speak of a bug festival.
To sum up, Company of Heroes 3 seems to be the continuation that fans of the series have been hoping for for years. Veterans will be able to verify this when the game debuts on PC on February 23. The title will also be released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles later this year.
