Today - after almost 10 years of waiting - the next full-fledged installment of the legendary RTS series Company of Heroes debuts, this time bearing the number 3. The third part of Company of Heroes once again takes us to the World War II era, where we will have to manage air, sea and land units, as well as fight large-scale battles.
The third part of Company of Heroes has already been tested by reviewers, who overwhelmingly praise the new work of Relic Entertainment. The game received an average rating of 82/100 (based on 38 reviews) on Meatcritc and appears in the reviews as a safe but successful sequel.
"Company of Heroes 3 is a conservative's dream, a safe sequel. (...) Everything that has been in the series so far is here in Company of Heroes, plus there's more of it and everything has been executed a little better," reads the review by Eurogamer.
Journalists stress that fans of the series - when playing the third installment of Company of Heroes - will feel like at home that has undergone a little renovation. This is because the game received a number of minor, gameplay-improving changes, such as the ability to tow howitzers or anti-tank guns.
Also praised is rich content at launch - including two large campaigns, which, while not stunning in narrative, offer a wide range of tactical options.
The list of cons to the game is quite small. Reviewers point to, among other things, poor AI performance on some occasions, not the best thought-out Italian campaign, as well as problems inherited from the previous installment with individual unit pathfinding. Some journalists point out bugs and technical issues, which were found in the reviewed version.
