Command & Conquer remasters are being considered by EA
Command & Conquer: Rivals announcement let everybody down, but the series is not yet dead. Its 25th anniversary may bring around many remasters of classic C&C titles.
To say that the announcement of Command & Conquer mobile spinoff named Rivals didn't go down very well with the C&C community would be a huge understatement. But don’t lose faith in the series just yet. EA producer Jim Vessella has given the old fans a spark of new hope. On Reddit, he suggested that the company was “exploring” the idea of Command & Conquer remasters:
Following the reveal of Rivals, we heard you loud and clear: the Command & Conquer community also wants to see the franchise return to PC. And as a fan of C&C for over 20 years, I couldn’t agree more. With that in mind we’ve been exploring some exciting ideas regarding remastering the classic PC games, and already have the ball rolling on our first effort to celebrate the upcoming 25th Year Anniversary.
Vessella had contributed to Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars and was leading producer of the expansion Kane's Wrath. How exactly EA wants to do to celebrate the 25th anniversary, he didn't reveal yet. But September 2020 is still pretty far away – until then EA could actually develop more than one remaster. Or follow in Microsoft’s footsteps, which announced a Definitive Edition of Age of Empires 4 to celebrate 20 years of AoE. EA following this trend would probably be a dream come true for many C&C fans.
