Classic GTA Trilogy for Free for Owners of The Definitive Edition
Rockstar decided to appease the owners of the PC version of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition by giving away the full versions of classic games from this bundle.
- Owners of the PC version of GTA: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition received the classic editions of the games in the trilogy for free;
- The games were added to their accounts in the Rockstar Games Launcher;
- All three titles will also be available for free to anyone who buys the PC version of GTA: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition before July 1, 2022.
Owners of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition on PC are given full versions of the classic games included in this refreshed bundle including Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. The titles were added to their accounts in Rockstar Games Launcher.
Interestingly, this offer will remain valid for more than six months. The original versions of the games from the bundle will be given for free to everyone who buys the PC version of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition before July 1, 2022. It is worth noting that this applies only to editions of the collection purchased in Rockstar Store.
While preparing for the release of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition Rockstar pulled from sale the classic version of the trilogy. This immediately sparked controversy, which was further exacerbated when it became clear how bad the quality of refreshed editions of these games is.
The day one edition of the bundle was so rough that the ability to buy and launch the PC edition of the game was blocked for a time. Eventually Rockstar issued an apology and announced the return of the classic version of the trilogy.
Interestingly enough that hasn't happened yet. Original incarnations of Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas are still not back in sale, neither on Steam nor Rockstar Store.
