Civilization 7 fans don't wait for Firaxis and fix game themselves. Title is doing 2 times worse than Civ 6 at launch
Civilization fans decided not to wait for official updates but rolled up their sleeves and threw themselves into working on mods to fix some of Sid Meier's Civilization VII's issues.

The Sid Meier's Civilization VII release turned out to be a big disappointment, as best shown by the fact that the game has only 51% positive reviews on Steam.
Firaxis Studio is trying to save the situation with updates (up to now, three patches have been released). Some fans, however, decided not to wait for official updates and started creating modifications to fix the most serious problems of this title.
Several firsts have just launched on Civfanatics.com. Below we present some of the most popular mods.
- Sukritact's Simple UI Adjustments - introduces interface improvements. Of all the mods released so far, this one is the most popular, which isn't surprising, as it is hard to find a review of Civilization VII in which this aspect of the game wasn't complained about.
- YnAMP - Larger Map, TSL, Continents++ - allows for playing on much larger maps than the basic version of the game allows.
- TCS Improved Plot Tooltip - introduces extra information to the tooltip window.
- MantisMaestro's Compact Production Chooser - modifies the game window to take up less space.
- Unlock all Civs - unlocks access to all civilizations.
- More Natural Wonders - doubles the number of natural wonders that spawn on maps.
The series boasts a sizable and highly active modding community, so we can anticipate a continuous flow of new projects.
Will updates and mods be enough to fix the game's reputation?
Technical issues and poor player reviews caused Sid Meier's Civilization VII to have a relatively weak start on Steam. Yesterday, on the day of the official release, the activity record on this platform was 80,103 people playing simultaneously.
The number is impressive, but on day one, Civilization VI had 162,657 players simultaneously, which is more than twice as much. Of course, it's important to note that some players began playing Sid Meier's Civilization VII last week due to purchasing special editions. However, even after accounting for the activity record from the first day of this pseudo-early access, the latest installment of the series doesn't reach the popularity of the sixth part at its launch.
