The free update for Civilization 6, going live later this month, will introduce several minor and major changes. The biggest of these will be new mechanics for barbarians. They will no longer be just mindless opponents who can only attack the player's cities. Instead, barbarian clans will appear in the game, which will also develop over time. In the course of the game their camps will turn into city-states. Each of the clans will also represent full-fledged civilizations that have not appeared in the game. Thanks to this, they will have special units of these nations at their disposal. Our options for extablishing relations with them will also be developed. From now on, barbarians can be bribed to stop attacks or even attack our opponent. We will also get the ability to pay ransom for kidnapped workers. Each of our interactions, in turn, will bring the selected clan closer to change into a city-state, which can become our ally.
The aforementioned change will be an optional choice that players can make when setting up a new scenario. In addition to being able to se barbarian aggression level, we will be given the choice of Barbarian Clans Mode. It will introduce changes in their mechanics. In addition, the creators have prepared many smaller gameplay improvements. The values of income from certain fields will change, as well as the in-game AI. After the update, AI-controlled civilizations will be able to use air units more effectively and more often. New cards will also be added, which we will use to modify our political system. They will better reflect how different types of governments work in real life. The entire content of the update will be available to everyone for free. Players who own only the basic edition of Civilization 6 will also be able to experience the new approach to barbarians. The update is scheduled for release on February 25.
