Civilization fans have become accustomed to the fact that there are always only two major expansions to the games from this series. We expected the same to happen with Sid Meier's Civilization VI, but it turns out that the game may receive a third big DLC.
The source of these reports is a new survey designed for fans of the series. Some of the questions are related to further development of the game, where you can choose between free updates, small DLCs and large expansion and their content. Firaxis also tries to get the feedback from players about what they would like to see in future expansions.
The survey suggests that the devs intend to develop the game for a long time to come. Of course, it is not clear what form this will take, but we think that a further major DLC is very likely. A few months ago, Take-Two Interactive boasted that Sid Meier's Civilization VI: Gathering Storm, released in February, this year, is the best-earning expansion in the history of the Civilization franchise. The demand for such projects is therefore high.
Sid Meier's Civilization VI was released in October 2016 for PCs. In the following years, the game was ported to iOS and Nintendo Switch. In 2018 the first major expansion was published in the form of Sid Meier's Civilization VI: Rise and Fall.
Despite being almost three years old, Sid Meier's Civilization VI still enjoys great popularity. According to Steam Charts, yesterday, at the hottest moment of the day, over 27,000 people played it on Valve's platform at the same time.
