Civilization 4X Game Old World Gets Release Date
A possible competitor to Sid Meier's Civilization - Old World - has just received its release date. It promises to cause quite a stir in the strategy game genre.
The upcoming possible competitor to the Sid Meier's Civilization series - Old World, which is being developed by the lead designer of Civilization III and IV and Offworld Trading Company's Soren Johnson - has received a new trailer, and with it the official release date, scheduled for July 1, this year. Currently, the game can be purchased in early access on Epic Games Store. The title will remain an EGS exclusive title also after the official release.
Old World is a turn-based 4X strategy game inspired by Civilization, but title introduces a few innovative mechanics that enable it to stand up to Sid Meier's series.. We're talking about the option of playing not just as one ruler, but a whole dynasty of ancient heroes or the system of procedurally generated special tasks called Ambitions. We wrote more about Old World in the previous news about the Mohawk Games' work, and a more detailed description of the title can be found in our encyclopedia.
However, the most important aspect of Johnson's game is its competitiveness against titles like Civilization-like games, especially that apart from Old World, this year (on August 17) will also see the release of Humankind, which the players approach with high hopes and expecting a breath of fresh air in the genre. We wrote more about the game in our editorial. It promises to be quite a stir among fans of turn-based strategies.
Previous trailer and screenshots from Old World are also available on the game's page on Epic Games store.
