Cities: Skylines 2 Modder Protests; Removes Projects Dues to Vitriolic Community
The creator of a number of mods for Cities: Skylines 2 has removed his projects from the web due to the growing toxicity of the game's community, which is increasingly daring to attack the developers.
Not very successful launch of Cities: Skylines 2 has brought a lot of Colossal Order fell a huge criticism on the studio. According to one of the leading modders, at some point it turned into a blind hate against the developers.
As the modder Derranged Teddy argues, the Cities: Skylines 2 community has recently become "hate-filled" and hostile toward the employees of Colossal Order, despite the fact that the latterwork hard on fixes (via PCGamesN).
With a noticeable increase in toxicity levels among players of CS2, Derranged Teddy - who has been associated with the city builder genre for more than 30 years - has decided to withdraw all his modifications from the web, which include such gems as a mod that improves the artificial intelligence of residents or a system that monitors metropolitan employment data in detail.
With this action, the modder stands in solidarity with the members of Colossal Order, and additionally protects himself from hatred from other players of the popular city builder.
"We are not robots. We are human beings who design incredibly complicated things. Mistakes do need to be pointed out for the benefit of the game, but many have resorted to attaching their own feelings about the broader games industry to their complaints (...).
The behavior of this community makes me wonder what happens to me down the line if I write a popular mod and it breaks. So, I feel that a decision must be made to stand up for my fellow developers, as well as myself, and withdraw from the community until things settle down."
At the same time, Derranged Teddy appealed to toxic members of the Cities: Skylines 2 community to make a deep reflection on their behavior - a kind of examination of conscience.
"Please rethink your behavior, because modders aren’t going to stick around in a community that is this toxic and hostile to developers."
It is worth mentioning in passing that the addition of official mod support for Cities: Skylines 2 is one of Colossal Order's priorities for next year.
Cities: Skylines II made its debut in October, this year. Currently, the game is only available on PC. Versions for Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 consoles will be released next year..
