Cities Skylines 2 Maps - Everything You Need to Know
Cities Skylines 2 offers a brand new climate system. How does it affect the maps? Will you find an editor in CS2? You'll find out from this guide.
Cities Skylines 2 was released yesterday. The second instalment of the popular series has introduced a number of new features – including seasons and bigger maps. How many maps will be at launch? Will the game have an editor? You can find out in this guide.
Maps in Cities Skylines 2
In base version of Cities Skylines 2 we receive only 11 maps (vanilla version of Cities Skylines had 12). The biggest problem is that all of maps are similar to each other. Climate of all maps are slightly different, but all of them have moderate temperatures. Additionally, they are covered by plains and forests. Right now, there are no deserts or ice-covered areas in the game. The biggest differences between maps are:
- terrain and percentage of buildable area;
- rainfall frequency;
- outside connections – rails and ships are not available on all maps.
Map editor in Cities Skylines 2
Unfortunately, there is currently no map creator in the game. Developers announced that there will be one big editor in which you will be able to create maps and assets. However, specific date of release hasn’t been announced yet.
In previous game, DLCs added some maps. There was even a Content Creator Pack: Map Pack that only included eight new maps. It is likely to be a similar case in Cities Skylines 2. Colossal Order has already announced that owners of Ultimate Edition will gain 8 DLCs. Maybe we will find maps in at least one of them.
