Cheaters are Killing MMO Again, This Time It's Tower of Fantasy
Tower of Fantasy, as befits an MMO, is struggling with cheaters. The first cheaters have already tasted justice, although not all bans have been sent to the right people.
Wherever there is an MMO, there will always be some cheaters, and it's no different with the fledgling Tower of Fantasy. In an official announcement, the developers informed about the banning of 1,706 users worldwide, although realistically it yielded very little.
List of banned players
In addition to the ban information itself, a full list of accounts that used cheats or scripts was also made available. Admittedly, we did not get the names of the accounts per se - the list is full of nicknames that the cheaters have used in the game.
Most bans were from across Europe and Southeast Asia and while one would think that the problem of cheaters is mostly solved, players claim otherwise.
Cheaters are out there and doing well
As noted by Kielos, the biggest cheaters are still on the servers, which means nothing more than that they have managed to get past the wave of bans. In the screenshot below you can see a player, holding a level 7.5 Suppressor.
What's so strange about this? The fact that upgrading the device is limited by the maximum character level, which is currently 40. Suppressor 5.0, on the other hand, would requires gaining level 41.
The matter is complicated by the fact that more than once comments came from people who were banned for modifying one of the game files just to deal with the BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) and be able to play normally.
"Banning takes place if you swapped xophon_64.sys, regardless of whether you used any cheats such as from cheat engine. This means that if you swapped it just to prevent a BSOD, you will still get banned," explained some-chemist.
Tower of Fantasty like New World?
It didn't take long for players to come to the conclusion that Tower of Fantasty would most likely end up the same way as New World. Both games have been facing waves of cheaters since the beginning, which discourages ordinary players from entering the game.
The situation is not improved by the fact that creating an account in Tower of Fantasy is free, which means that cheaters can basically create more profiles indefinitely until they get bored.
