Changes in GeForce Now; There Will be a Paid Subscription [Updated]
It appears that Nvidia is planning to make changes to GeForce Now. The company intends to introduce a paid subscription, which will offer additional options - including ray tracing in games. Free accounts will be subject to greater restrictions than during ongoing beta-tests.
Update:
Nvidia has announced the completion of beta-tests and the official launch of GeForce Now. All information contained in the following news has been confirmed.
The games run in 1080p and 60 fps. Streaming can be done using a PC (Windows 7 or newer or Mac with 10.10 - a dual-core processor with a clock of at least 2.0 GHz is required, as well as 4 GB of RAM and DirectX 11 support), Nvidia Shield TV (models from 2015, 2017 and 2019) or Android smartphone (min. 5.0, the device must also have 2 GB of RAM). On devices other than PCs we have to get a compatible pad (Nvidia recommends Shield Controller, Razer Raiju, Junglecat Mobile or Steelseries Stratus Duo). In the future, there will also be an application for Chromebooks.
Of course, GeForce now also requires a sufficiently fast internet connection. The minimum is 15 Mbps, but at least 25 Mbps is recommended (generally the more the better).
The service is available in North America and Europe.
Original message:
VideoCardz reports that we're about to see a change in Nvidia's GeForce Now streaming service. There will be a new, paid option, priced at $4.99 per month, which will offer access to additional benefits. It is worth noting that users will still be able to use the service for free, provided that they accept certain restrictions.
The free account will enable us to stream games as before, but a single session will be limited to no more than an hour (currently it is six hours). We may have to wait in line. Paying customers will be given priority in this regard and will be able to play longer (not specified by how much). Additionally, as part of the subscription, we will be able to enjoy ray tracing.
It is worth noting that the price is a special offer - Wccftech reports that it will increase after a year. A sum of $9.99 per month is being considered, but everything will depend on competition from Google, Microsoft and Amazon. Those who decide to take advantage of the offer will receive 90 days for free. It should be noted that in the case of GeForce Now, we do not have to additionally buy games - we wil be able to play games from our library, provided that it is compatible with the service (it works with accounts on Steam, Uplay and Battle.net). Currently, Shield users have additional access to title selection
We would like to remind that GeForce Now service is currently in beta-testing phase. If today's reports are confirmed, it will probably be officially released soon.
