CDPR Denies Rumors of Cyberpunk 2077 Being Delayed Until 2021
CD Projekt RED denied recent rumors that the release of Cyberpunk 2077 will be delayed until 2021. Developers have once again confirmed that the game is to be released on December 10.
Yesterday, a rumor struck all those waiting for Cyberpunk 2077, suggesting that the game will be delayed yet again and will not launch until 2021. Fortunately, it seems that these speculations are untrue. Asked for a comment by IGN, CD Projekt RED denied these reports and confirmed that the launch will take place on December 10, this year.
Fans had reasons to be concerned as the source of speculation was the well-informed insider known as Tiffany Treadmore. Earlier, she had repeatedly passed on rumors that turned out to be true. This was the case, for example, with information about the cancelation of this year's E3 and Valve preparing to reveal Half-Life: Alyx.
In response to these reports, CD Projekt RED first updated CP2077's profile on Twitter to include the date of December 10. However, Treadmore persisted, claiming that she was receiving bad news from the development team, suggesting a delay until January 2021. Eventually, the topic became so hot that the devs officially denied the rumors.
We'll find out soon enough what the truth is. The reactions to delay until December 10 were very negative. The players loudly expressed their dissatisfaction, and the company's shares recorded a large drop on the stock market. CD Projekt RED will probably do what it can to avoid another slip.
The fact that December 10 seems to be the final date is also evidenced by the fact that an aggressive marketing campaign has already started. The company has spent millions of dollars on advertising in Times Square, New York City, and there are buses running around Poland decorated with artwork from the game.
Cyberpunk 2077 is coming to PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. The game will also be available on Google Stadia streaming service.
