CD Projekt RED Planned To Release Cyberpunk 2077 In 2019
Jason Schreier from Kotaku, referring to his sources, confirms that CD Projekt RED planned to release Cyberpunk 2077 in 2019. Most probably this will not happen and as he suggests, game developers were skeptical about this date from the very beginning.
In September 2018, a Turkish publisher published a news suggesting that the much-anticipated Cyberpunk 2077 is scheduled to be released in 2019. Meanwhile, according to Jason Schreier from Kotaku, it seems that CD Projekt RED was actually planning its production to debut this year.
Action mobilization
A few days ago, Schreier published a tweet in which we could read that Cyberpunk 2077 will not be released this year. Soon he decided to share some additional information about the planned release date of the new RPG from RED studio.
Schreier, citing his sources, says that Cyberpunk 2077 was actually planned for 2019, but even the CD Projekt RED staff did not believe it was a realistic date.
This has gotten a lot of Reddit attention so some clarity: I've heard from three sources that Cyberpunk was aiming for 2019, but belief around the studio was that it was an unrealistic target. I expect first half 2020 or maybe even an E3 announcement of 2019, then a delay to 2020.
The Developers admit that E3 2019 will be the most important E3 event for Cyberpunk 2077, which means that we will probably learn more about the game and maybe know the exact release date. Schreier suggests, however, that even if the game is announced for autumn 2019, we can expect the release to be delayed.
In his subsequent tweets we can read that this is quite common practice. As one of the potential reasons for such behavior of producers and publishers he indicates the willingness to mobilize developers to more intensive work, even if the task is not feasible. So all we can do is wait for E3.
