Can You Play Void Crew 1.0 Solo? BRAIN Mechanic Needs a Fix
Here’s everything you need to know about single player in Void Crew 1.0. People have noticed that the BRAIN turrets feel nerfed.
Void Crew is a cooperative space exploration roguelike where you and your crew take command of a spaceship, venturing into the unknown depths of the galaxy. Working together is key as up to 4 players must manage ship systems, navigate treacherous environments, and fight off alien threats. While the game shines brightest when played with friends, many are curious: can it truly deliver a satisfying experience for solo players?
Can You Play Void Crew on Your Own?
Since its launch back in 2023, Void Crew has generated interest in its single player mode. The short answer? Yes, you can absolutely enjoy the game playing on your own. The gameplay scales to accommodate just one player, with fewer enemies, streamlined objectives, and other adjustments during missions. Solo players also start with a smaller ship (the recommended layout is the Lone Sentry), equipped with AI-controlled turrets and a solo energy cost reduction relic. While missions can be skipped, progression may feel slower due to fewer available perk points.
Solo Play After 1.0 Patch
After more than a year of development and community feedback, Void Crew officially launched its 1.0 version on November 25, leaving Early Access behind. This update introduces a wealth of new content, with the development team focusing heavily on balancing gameplay. Many of the adjustments specifically aim to enhance the solo experience, which had previously felt less refined compared to games with dedicated solo modes.
That said, the B.R.A.I.N. mechanic, a key feature for solo players, has been nerfed more than intended. While turrets can still be powerful, the change has made it more difficult to enjoy single player mode, as you start with a weaker setup that limits early-game capabilities. The good news is that the developers are aware of this problem and have confirmed it will be addressed in an upcoming patch.
