Can You Guess the Most Popular Password of 2020?
NordPass regularly updates the list of the most popular passwords used by Internet users. The list was invariably dominated by an immortal classic.
IN A NUTSHELL:
- In 2020, the most popular password in the world was "123456";
- This iconic sequence of numbers has taken the first place for the last five years;
- The second place was taken by "123456789".
Nordpass published a list of the most popular passwords of 2020. The list makes you laugh as much as it makes you scared - the first place is occupied by the invariably popular 123456 (for fifth year in a row), ahead of 123456789. If someone is looking for the crowning proof of how little attention people pay to the security of their accounts on various websites, they don't have to look further.

In short, it's bad. Of course, it can be expected that at least some of these passwords are used for unimportant services and websites, but I have no doubt that in many cases, users secure their social media accounts or on paid websites in this way.
Thinking about your password, it is worthwhile to do a little more. If someone really doesn't have an idea, it's worth to additionally reach for an app like Google / Microsoft Authenticator, thanks to which in case of many websites we will be able to confirm login using our smartphone (only then it's really worth to pay attention to what is happening with this device, because its loss can be extremely painful). It may also be a good idea to use a password manager such as NordPass.
