Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Without Lootboxes and Airdrops
People from Infinity Ward reassured the players that in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare we will not find lootbox or supply drop mechanics, at least on launch.
We are only eleven days away from the launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, this year's installment of the popular series of first-person shooters. The game appears to be promising, but some of its elements are worrying the players. The devs decided to reassure the fans by announcing that they are not working on any lootboxes or supply drops. The devs also emphasized that all elements influencing gameplay will be unlocked by playing.
Developers' statements are not entirely precise and more details are to be revealed this week. We know that we will find microtransactions in the game, but we will not have to buy anything blindly. It is not known, however, whether we will buy only cosmetic items for real money, or whether we will be able to buy stuff that will accelerate character progression as well.
Moreover, the dev' statement does not close the gate for possible lootboxes in the future. They may appear some time after the launch, but at least initially the game will be devoid of such "attractions".
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will be released on October 25, this year, simultaneously on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
The last few weeks have brought a lot of new information about the game. We got to know general hardware requirements and configurations needed to play with ray-tracing on. The creators revealed the details of the Spec Ops co-op mode, as well as the trailer of the story campaign. In addition, there were reports that rumors of the presence of supply drops had a negative impact on the number of the game's pre-orders. Today's declaration of the devs seems to be a reaction to this event.
