Blizzard Automatizes Warcraft 3: Reforged Refunds
Blizzard has enabled players to automatically get a refund for Warcraft III: Reforged. CEO J. Allen Brack commented on the failed attempt to refresh the iconic game, admitting that it has been a difficult week for the company.
"And it was supposed to be so good" is how you could summarize the first week after the release of Warcraft III: Reforged. The remake of the last strategic Warcraft, which has been awaited for years, was to be a dream come true for the fans. Meanwhile, the game has met with an icy reception, because not only did the title leave a lot to be desired technically, but the creators quietly backed out of many pre-release promises, but the original third installment of Warcraft also suffered some serious collateral. The devs even tried banning players who advised others on how to get a refund, to no avail. Fortunately, this last problem is apparently out of date. Information about the possibility of making an automatic return of Warcraft III: Reforged appeared on the official Blizzard forum. Just go to the technical support page and make a request.
During the summary of the financial results for Q4 2019, J. Allen Brack also referred to the Warcraft III: Reforged fiasco. Blizzard's CEO admitted that the past week was hard for the company, but it does not intend to abandon its work. On the contrary, the company intends to further develop and improve the game and plans to inform players about its plans:
"Concerning Warcraft 3: Reforged, honestly, it's been a bit of a hard week. Our community has come to expect really amazing things from us, and we've heard from them that we did not achieve that bar. But we stand behind our games, and have consistently shown that not only do we support them, but we continue to build on them even after launch. And we're committed to doing that here as well. We're going to continue to update the game, and we're going to continue to update the community with our plans going forward."
It all sounds beautiful, but you can't really count on all the problems being magically solved. In the previous announcement, Blizzard mentioned bug fixing and general polishing of the technical side of the game. Nothing has been mentioned about the new non-interactive scenes and modifications to the story campaign, which is not surprising - it is hard to expect the company to introduce such far-reaching changes in a de facto already released production. The publisher's approach to fanmodifications, which is quite controversial in itself, will not change either.
