Biggest Update in Helldivers 2 History Is Here. Devs Expanded Almost Every Aspect of Gameplay
Helldivers 2: Escalation of Freedom is now available. Arrowhead Game Studios' biggest game update ever introduces many new features and changes.
Helldivers 2 received a big update, Escalation of Freedom. The update's release was celebrated with a stream, during which the Arrowhead studio discussed the changes that were made. The audience gets early access to the special TR-40 Golden Eagle armor, which will be officially available in the game 48 hours later.
Update 01.001.002 includes, among others, a new, 10th difficulty level designed specifically for the most resilient defenders of Democracy. You can find the full list of changes in the post published on Steam and on Reddit.
This is a significant, but only one of many changes from the Escalation of Freedom. The developers significantly expanded almost every element of the game, adding new enemies, environmental hazards, a type of planet (swamps), mission objectives, and even larger enemy outposts on Super Earth. This is accompanied by balance changes and many more fixes.
Of course, the players are excited, although it's currently difficult to assess the significance of individual fixes and updates. However, a quick look reveals that the devs have introduced more buffs than "nerfs" in terms of gameplay balance.
Nonetheless, The SG-225ZP shotgun (Breaker Incendiary) has been weakened: the devs reduced its magazine and increased its recoil (although some players believe that this doesn't "kill" the weapon). On the other hand, the SG-8S (Slugger) received a fair amount of compensation for earlier "nerfs" from the developers.
Players are also happy about the change related to the so-called hellbomb: if it is destroyed after being armed, it will still explode (as long as the timer is active). "Fans" of Automatons are already rubbing their hands, as are fans of the CB-9 crossbow, which from now on is a one-handed weapon.
While it is still too early to evaluate the update, so far players seem to be satisfied with the Escalation of Freedom, despite the minor changes. Nonetheless, it's better to wait a bit with the verdict. Especially since more warbonds will be added to the game in two days: Freedom's Flame.
