Bethesda Reveals Orion - New Game Streaming Technology
At the E3 2019 conference, Bethesda Softworks and id Software revealed Orion, a new gaming streaming technology that reduces latency and amount of transferred data.
At the E3 conference, Bethesda unveiled Orion, a new game streaming technology that optimizes the graphics engine to perform best in the cloud. Orion support every engine and according to its creators it is supposed to improve the gameplay experience.
Bethesda's solution is designed to enable streaming at speeds up to 20% faster, resulting in a significant reduction in latency, which is one of the main problems with services such as Google Stadia and xCloud. Additionally, we can expect reduction in the amount of transmitted data - even up to 40%. This means a significant reduction in the cost of streaming.
The implementation of Orion in games is supposed to be very simple thanks to the SDK tool created by Bethesda. The effectiveness of the technology was presented on the example of Doom, which was streamed live to the screen of a mobile device, at 60 frames per second and 4K resolution.
Orion is currently in the testing phase, which we can join if we - just sign up to the official club of Doom, the Slayers Club.
