Battlefield 2042 Going Down; Less Than 1,000 players on Steam

Battlefield 2042 is long past the days when 100,000 Steam users were present in the game simultaneously.

Battlefield 2042 developers have reasons to worry. In terms of the number of players on Steam, the title has long been overtaken by previous installment of the series (and even BF4), and it disappeared from the list of the 100 most popular games on Steam. It will not return to this list soon, since today the number of people playing Battlefield 2042 on Valve's platform dropped below 1,000 users for the first time (via Steam Charts and SteamDB).

Battlefield 2042 lost most of its players

For now, it was just a temporary dip in form. BF 2042 is still being played simultaneously by a lot more than 1.5 thousand Steam players. However, this is not something to be proud of in the case of a game from a high-budget series, which has not been on the market for even half a year.

We can console ourselves that it's still not on the level of Marvel's Avengers, which got it even worse already a month after release, and now it is played by an average of a few hundred concurrent users on Steam.

Gamers complain about Battlefield 2042

It's easy to see why Battlefield 2042 lost popularity so quickly despite its outstanding performance on launch. Numerous bugs and controversies surrounding the game certainly did not help, but the main problem is the slow development of the game. The first season with new content will arrive only in the summer.

This is supposedly due to the developers' focus on fixing the title, which, while understandable, says a lot about the current condition of Battlefield 2042. However, the fact that after several months players are still waiting for the finished leaderboardss, and have only received a functional - let's call it that - version in early March makes it easy to understand the community's ongoing complaints about the slow pace.
