Battlefield Portal May be the Revolution That the Brand Needs

Battlefield Portal will enable us to create our own rules in online games. Thanks to extensive but simple tools we will be able to run wild in Battlefield 2042.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  1. Electronic Arts revealed new game mode to appear in Battlefield 2042 – Battlefield Portal;
  2. It will allow for the creation of online games based on our own rules and using elements from the previous installments;
  3. Battlefield Portal will be expanded after launch along with the main multiplayer mode.

Batttlefield Portal may be the revolution that the brand needed since many years. During the Battlefield 2042 presentation at EA Play Live, Ripple Effect (former DICE LA) revealed an in-game social network platform available to all players. For free, obviously.

In addition to the main online mode - Total War - BF2042 will also offer Battlefield Portal, which will enable us to create multiplayer games on our own terms. A sandbox will be at our disposal, enabling us to modify not only the settings, but also game logic (based on scripts) presented in a friendly form of blocks. If based on what was shown at the conference, we should have a huge amount of options, and the game is unlikely to cause too many problems.

Portal will enable us to freely mix content from the earlier installments. The video showed soldiers from Battlefield V clashing with modern fighters on the map Caspian Border from the third installment. Devs at Ripple Effect and Electronic Arts assure that they have taken the player criticism after the launch of Battlefield 1 and Battlefield V to heart. Each of the maps available in this mode will be made compatible with the latest version of the Frostbite engine,which means gigantic scope of skirmishes, great visuals and destruction on unprecedented scale.

Battlefield Portal – content on day one

Classic maps:

Weapons:

  1. 40+ weapons from three theatres of war;
  2. M1 Garand, Panzerschreck, G3, M416 and more;
  3. Total War arsenal from Battlefield 2042.

Vehicles:

  • over 40 vehicles from three theatres of war;
  • Spitfire and B17 return along with modern day Quad Bike and Little Bird;
  • Vehicles from Total War from Battlefield 2042.

Accessories:

  1. 30+ accessories from three theatres of war;
  2. recon items such as MAV and Radio Beacon, will be available as selectable accessories along with z Defibrillator and EOD bot;
  3. accessories from Battlefield 2042.

Armies:

  • classic factions will return in Battlefield Portal just like we remember them, enabling us to mix and match 7 different armies from earlier games as well as specialist from Battlefield 2042;
  • armies such as British, American ad German from Battlefield 1942 oraz American and Russian from Bad Company 2 will be available exclusively in Battlefield Portal.

Content for this mode will be added on an ongoing basis following the release of Battlefield 2042. with subsequent seasons bringing new weapons, additional gadgets, vehicles, and maps. Hopefully you won't have to wait too long to find your favorite (or next favorite) map. BF Portal will also enable you to use the original soldier archetypes. So if anyone misses the assault or scout from Battlefield 3 they will be able to play them.

Battlefield 2042 – post-release support

That's not all, however. If for some reason the basic online mode and Battlefield Portal do not appeal to you, there will be a third option available after the game's debut. We're talking about Danger Zone. Electronic Arts calls it an "all-new team mode," making it clear that this is no classic battle royale we know from Battlefield V's Operation Firestorm.

Battlefield 2042 will be available for testing during the open beta, which was moved to September this year. The title will debut on October 22, 2021 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Those who decide to pre-order the game can expect early access to the full version.
