Battle for Starfield's Rating on Metacritic; Xbox and PlayStation Fanboys Might Have Joined the Fray
Starfield's scores, at least on Metacritic, have become very diverse. Such a split in ratings suggests that a „battle” has begun between Xbox and PlayStation fans.
Starfield is now available to all gamers, and this means that the hordes of players interested in this title have the right to rate it on various website. As it turns out, a real battle is taking place on Metacritic, with the average score for Bethesda's latest title at stake.
A fight between Xbox and PlayStation fanboys over Starfield?
For the moment, Starfield's average ratings of users for the PC version is 5.4/10, with a slightly better score for Xbox Series X/S version - here player ratings give it 6.0/10.
Recall that Starfield is seen as a solid game by the critics. Many editors gave the game very good ratings in their reviews. In this group we were also among them - we gave Bethesda's new title a score of 9.5/10.
After the recent official release (September 6), the voice could finally be heard also from gamers, who should verify the impressions of critics by rating Starfield. Instead, there was a clash over reviews on Metacritic, the participants of which are probably two competing parties, namely loyal Xbox and PlayStation devotees.
- Although it is impossible to conclusively point out that PlayStation fanboys have started review bombing Starfield, the earlier announcements of "revenge" clearly suggest their participation.
- Roughly since the day before yesterday's release, the average rating of Starfield on Metacritic began to decline. Quite a few notes ranged from 0 to 4. In the meantime, many "tens" also appeared, disrupting the previous score.
- Evidence of the active participation of hostile camps in the evaluation of Starfield is the result of examining the accounts that gave a particular grade. Typically, Starfield the only game they've rated - either very good or very bad.
These extremes may indicate the creation of multiple accounts by a single user (a certain PlayStation devotee boasted that he created 100 of them) or a fairly fresh registration on Metacritic to rate just this game.
Starfield's rating on Steam
And how does Starfield , on the other hand, presents itself on Valve's Steam? At the moment the game has received about 44 thousand reviews, 78% of which are positive.
It is worth noting here that Valve's platform uses a different rating system than Metacritic. In the case of Steam, you simply have to play for a certain amount of time to be able to give your rating. This makes the published reviews and ratings more reliable.
Let's hope that in the midst of the aforementioned battle between the two camps, objective ratings from players on Starfield won't be lost.
It is also worth mentioning that the discussed Bethesda game has already lived to see almost a thousand mods on NexusMods. To date they have been downloaded almost four million times.
