Baldur's Gate 3 Still has Surprises Waiting in Early Access
A lot of new stuff is still to come to the game before Baldur's Gate 3's scheduled official release in August. The developer also mentions some exciting secret of version 1.0.
Quite recently, Baldur's Gate 3, still in Early Access, has reveiced a sizable update dubbed as Patch 9. One of the new features of the update is the paladin class, alongside with an increased level cap. However, it turns out that a lot more will be added to the game before the release of version 1.0.
This was assured by Swen Vincke, founder of Larian, in an interview with the editors of Rock, Paper, Shotgun. Despite the fact that Patch 9 was presented as the last major update before the release of the full version, players can expect more significant changes... and problems with compatibility of save data.
"[Players will have to start the game from the beginning even before version 1.0 - ed. note], because new features will still be added to the first act. I know it's very annoying for the players, but we can't afford to ensure compatibility of save data when we make such big changes."
Vincke further mentions that the thing he is most excited about is the release of version 1.0 of Baldur's Gate 3, still remains a big mystery. He points out that he has been working on it for several years.
"I hope people will like it, because it's really amazing. From the first days [of early access - ed. note], I saw players talking about it and I was like: 'God. Wish I could tell them...'"
Asked about the certainty of the set release date of Baldur's Gate 3, Vincke stressed that there is no indication of a delay, because Larian Studios has a carefully written out work schedule and has even left itself some slack in it. So we can count on the game actually debuting in August 2023 - although Swen also didn't fail to remind us that he is known for frequently mispredicting of release dates...
