Handful of Fans Wept at Funeral of Babylon's Fall
A group of dedicated fans gathered on the last day of Babylon's Fall servers running to bid farewell to one of last year's biggest failures.
Online RPG Babylon's Fall is one of the biggest failures of recent years. The game debuted on March 3, 2022, and its servers were shut down yesterday, less than a year after its release. Players were warned about this many months in advance, so a group of the most devoted fans gathered together to relive the last moments of this production.
- Server shutdown always cause great excitement and often become an occasion for virtual funerals in which players say goodbye to their favorite video games.
- In the case of Babylon's Fall the game's developers did not show off. There was no farewell waiting for the players. After the designated hour has struck, they were disconnected and greeted with a message about the interruption for technical reasons. Only later the game's official Twitter published thanks to the players for participating.
- Even without any highlights prepared by the developers, fans of the game made sure that their last moments with the game were memorable. They then shared the recordings of those final moments:
Very few groups of players can be seen in these videos, which illustrates well why the game's servers were shut down. On Steam daily activity records in February were 3-14 players. On the last day of servers running, the record was 45 people playing simultaneously.
Recall that the game was released on PC, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Despite the fact that the gamewas developed by the acclaimed Japanese studio PlatinumGames (authors of, among others. NieR: Automata andBayonetta), Babylon's Fall turned out to be a big failure - The average of reviews was only 43% on OpenCritic. The servers never filled up, and even this modest community quickly began to melt away. The end of the game was thus inevitable.
